The term "2-ton" is a production shorthand that originates from the era of actual 2-ton trucks — the step up from a 1-ton cube truck. Today it's more of a size descriptor than a literal weight class, but it still communicates something real: this is the G&E package that covers a single-camera commercial with a gaffer, a key grip, and a couple of PAs working efficiently. It's the most common configuration for branded content, TV spots, and higher-end music videos.

The 20×20 Overhead Is Non-Negotiable Outdoors

Florida midday sun is brutal — not just bright, but high-contrast and harsh in a way that makes almost any talent look terrible without intervention. A 20×20 overhead frame with Ultrabounce or 250 diffusion gives you a giant, controllable soft source that wraps around your subject and drops ambient contrast by 1.5–2 stops. It's the single biggest image-quality upgrade you can make on an outdoor Florida shoot, and it's in every 2-ton package we rent for exterior work.

Tungsten Balance (120t) for Interior Matching

Florida interiors — restaurants, hotels, retail, residential — tend to have a mix of warm practical sources that are expensive to gel out. The Aputure 120t lets you bring in a matched tungsten fill or motivated source without fighting the ambient. We include it specifically because so many Treasure Coast shoots go back-and-forth between exterior and interior setups in the same day.

Generator vs. Building Power

The EU7000is is quiet enough to run near dialogue — 49dB at 1/4 load. If you're shooting on location in a park, beach, or outdoor venue, it's essential. If you're in a building, you may be able to run off house power: our full LED package draws roughly 1,800W at full output, well within two 20A circuits. We'll walk you through this when you book.

What the 2-Ton Package Does Not Cover

A 2-ton package is a departmental starting point, not a complete production. What you'll still need to source:

• Camera, lenses, support (we do not rent camera)
• Crew — key grip, gaffer, G&E assistants (we can refer)
• Hair/makeup, wardrobe, art department
• HMI or high-wattage tungsten units (not in our current inventory)
• Rain machines, specialty rigs, underwater housing

Who Should Book the Full 2-Ton vs. a Smaller Package?

If your shoot is a single-camera commercial, branded content piece, or premium music video with more than 4 distinct setups in a day, the 2-ton is the right call. If you're doing a simpler interview, real estate video, or run-and-gun documentary, our 1-ton package or individual gear line items will give you more flexibility at lower cost.
