DP / Director of Photography
Pavotubes are the cinematographer's background and practical effect tool. Stack them vertically for a light-saber-style backlight, suspend them horizontally as overhead strips, or lay them on the floor as uplight accents. The 50+ built-in light effects — fire, lightning, TV, police, paparazzi — are production-ready and controllable to look natural at camera. Use them as motivated sources inside set dressing: inside refrigerators, behind frosted glass, or peeking through windows. The 360° output means you don't need to aim them precisely — they light in every direction.
Gaffer
The Pavotubes run on built-in battery for about 1.5 hours, which works for short setups, or they can run AC via the included adapters — no power budget concerns at 30W each. Four tubes draw less than 120W total on AC. The app controls each tube individually for color and intensity, or DMX works for larger productions. On battery, watch the charge level in the app — it displays per-tube battery status. Always bring them in charged on the day; in-field charging takes about 2.5 hours per tube.
Key Grip / Beginner
The Pavotube is as simple to use as sticking it on a stand. It has its own built-in stand mount, or you can clamp it to a C-stand arm with a standard 5/8" clamp. On battery it's completely wireless — no cabling needed. Download the NanLite app, connect via Bluetooth, and control color, brightness, and effects from your phone. The 360° output means there's no wrong direction to point it. Great for interviews, music videos, and any production needing background texture or motivated practical effects.
⚠ Covered Outdoor Use Only
The Pavotube II 30X is not weather rated. Use indoors or under cover outdoors. The battery and electronics are not sealed against moisture. Keep dry and protect from Florida's afternoon rain events.
