The Sumo 19" is your on-set reference monitor — the screen everyone gathers around to evaluate a take. At 1500 nits it's readable in Florida's harsh outdoor conditions, unlike most studio monitors that wash out in direct light. Use it with false color to monitor exposure precisely, and the waveform to keep highlights from clipping on your log footage. It doubles as a 4K recorder, so if you need a clean HDMI or SDI output to ProRes as a simultaneous backup or offline proxy, it's already in the package.

Gaffer

The Sumo is critical for the gaffer to verify the lighting ratio — watching the waveform gives real-time feedback on highlight and shadow levels across the frame. Set it up near the gaffer's position if you have one, or near the DIT station. Gold Mount power keeps it running all day without swapping batteries constantly. The fan runs quietly and the chassis is solid — it handles the on-set abuse of being moved between setups repeatedly.

Key Grip / Beginner

The Sumo 19" sits on its own stand or is mounted to a stand via the 1/4-20 socket on the back. We recommend using a sturdy combo stand with a monitor arm, or a dedicated monitor stand. It's heavy — 5.9 kg with the sunhood — and should be well-secured with sandbags on the base. The sunhood attaches via four friction-fit clips and makes the screen dramatically more readable in direct sunlight. Power via the Gold Mount plate on the rear — same batteries as the camera.
